Our History - The Story of Oakwood Products

Oakwood Products was founded in Scone, the Horse Capital of Australia in 1987 by Geoff Searl. It began with the development of a unique Leather Conditioning Cream that was formulated to have distinct natural qualities and advantages which allowed it to be ‘better than the rest!’

After years of research within the Australian equine market, he discovered what horse riding enthusiasts really wanted in a leather conditioner. Importantly, a good leather conditioner needs to gently moisturize leather to prevent deterioration from wear and tear which leads to dryness and cracking. However,  additional feedback included the need for a leather conditioning cream that allowed quick penetration along with the following; ‘will not come off on your clothes’, does not collect dust, is non-toxic, repels moisture, assists in the prevention of mold growth on leather and enables clean and easy application. These key abilities of the product ensured the longevity of old and new leather ‘like no other’ and provided user benefits which set the standard in the true sense of leather care.

In 1990, Geoff Searl had finished developing the unique Oakwood Leather Conditioner. This new product not only achieved what the market was looking for in a leather conditioner, but also contained quality Australian ingredients. These include beeswax, lanolin, eucalyptus oil and emu oil, providing the much needed natural balance in a leather care product.

The development of the Oakwood Leather Conditioner was the beginning of an extended range of quality equine products that were to follow. From the beginning, years of continuous research and development has resulted in a unique range of quality, Australian Made products that represent true value for money.;
